[Tutorial] MyTown

Recommended Posts

Hello tekkit players!

To help you all with the MyTown system, we decided to make a tutorial on it.
This way anyone can refer to it whenever they need / want to.
We will put the commands and other related information below this line.
They are in no particular order, you can always suggest for a command to be ordered differently.
If anything is off or unclear feel free to make a suggestion on that!

Commands:
/town - This command will show you the variety of subcommands in order to help you.
/town info - This command will show you the information about the town you're currently in if you don't provide another name, if you do provide another name it will show you the information about that  town.
/town invite (name) - (Replace name with the player name) This command will invite a player to the town you're currently in.
/town leave - This command will give you the ability to leave a town and join another.
/town here - This command will show you the town information of the town you're currently  standing on.
/town map - This command will show you a map (text based in the chat) of town claims around you and your own claim (if you're in it). Everything that is green is claimed by the town that you're currently in, and all the red colors are claims that belong to other towns. Each dot, or 0, in that map represents a chunk of land.
/town friend (add / remove) (name) - This command will give you the ability to give a player access to your plot / claim / town. This player will not be able to change any town settins or invite others.
The town friend command only gives (max) claim build rights. This setting can be changed with the command /town perm (town/res/plot) set friend (access/loot/build/none)
Access will grant the player rights to interact with things like chests / furnaces / ME terminals etc. Loot will only give a player access to pickup items (in case they die this would be very useful)
Build will grant the player access to edit the claim land aka change blocks in the claim. None will remove any rights from a player to interact with your claim.
/town claim - This command will claim the chunk you're currently standing on (you must be in a town in order for this command to work, and next to a claim).
/town unclaim - This command is the opposite of the claim command, this command will remove the chunk you're currently standing on from your town claims. (Warning: This will give anyone the ability to use / break / build / interact with anything in the claim)
/town plot (name) - This command will convert the current chunk form a town chunk to a plot chunk. You will be able to grant certain players certain permissions using the plots. Plots can have their individual permissions setup, useful if you want to give a certain player only access to high end stuff and another player not.
/town list  - This command will show you every town that is in the server by name.
/town setspawn - This command will set the spawn for everyone in this town. When they execute /town spawn, they will be taken to this point.
/town kick (name) - This command will give you the ability to kick any player from your town (or if you have assistant permissions). (Mind that staff can kick anyone from any town if they get a request from the mayor of a town)
/town rename (new name) - This command will change your current name to the one you provided in the command.
/town online  - This command will show you who's online in the town.

More information about /town perm :
Okay so this command is used a lot, and staff (including me) get a lot of questions about this.
It's not for a bad reason either, the MyTown permissions can be hard from time to time.
We will talk about every single permission node in the mytown permission settings.
(Note: this includes added nodes in order for us to patch claim bypasses)

All the nodes under this will come after the (/town perm town/res/plot set).
And the value after it will be either True or False unless stated otherwise.

Let's start with the list.

carts - This will either allow or disallow minecart interaction in a claim/town/plot.
steverailer - This will either allow or disallow Steve Cart's Railers in a claim/town/plot.
steveminer - This will either allow or disallow Steve Cart's Miners in a claim/town/plot.
rcbore - This will either allow or disallow Railcraft Bores in a claim/town/plot.
bc - This will either allow or disallow BuildCraft Fillers, Builders, Quarry's in a claim/town/plot.
mffs - This will either allow or dissalow Modular Force Fields in a claim/town/plot.
ccturtles - This will either allow or disallow ComputerCraft Mining Turtles in a claim/town/plot.
tcbores - This option is there but not used in Tekkit because ThaumCraft is not in Tekkit 1.2.9h
closeclaim - This will either allow or disallow others to claim close to your own claim.
killmobs - This will either allow or disallow everyone to kill mobs inside a claim/town/plot.
creepoff - This will either enable or disable creeper explosions inside a claim/town/plot.
tntoff - This will either enable or disable TNT explosions inside a claim/town/plot.
mobs - This will either enable or disable mods inside a claim/town/plot.
yon - This will either enable or disable height checks inside a claim/town/plot. This can be used in order to keep certain players from building above a certain altitude. Or to create a town res tier system.
yfrom - This number will be used to check from a certain height inside a claim/town/plot. For this to work you need to have the option yon enabled.
yto - This number will be used as the maximum number that the height check runs inside a claim/town/plot. For this to work you need to have the option yon enabled.
fireballoff - This will either enable or disable FireBall/Wither explosions inside a claim/town/plot.

Some options will be enabled or disabled by default, note that the true and false are inverted:
Example: /town perm town set carta true
The option in the MyTown perm list says: "Allow cart intergration"
This means that if you set this option to true, that mytown will allow this node.
Setting this to false will disallow the node.

The option tntoff works the same:
Example: /town perm town set tntoff true
This will set the option to true, this will disable tnt explosions.

Town blocks:
Each town has it's own amount of so called "town blocks" these are the amount of "blocks" a town can claim.
This is not literally the amount of blocks, it's actually the ammount of chunks a town can maximally claim.
Each town will have 16 town blocks from default, each resident adds a certain number of blocks to the town.
You need more blocks? You will have to invite more players in the town or buy more blocks from the store.
There is not much else to the town blocks than that is explained above.

Extra notes:
Staff members are allowed to change, delete a town on request or under certain circumstances.
If a town name is set to something that will interfere with any of the rules, that means that the town is due for change.
Staff will ask a first time, when this is rejected by the player we will change the town ourself.
Changing this back to something that will again interfere with the rulles, will be counted as a First Offense of the rule it interferes with.
This also counts for buildings inside a town claim, if any of these will interfere with the rules the building(s) will be removed!
Seeing as this cannot be directly pointed at the causer (in most of the cases), the mayor will be held responsible in this case.
Unless the building is on someones plot we will warn the Mayor and bring it to his notice.
If this happens more than 2 times the mayor will be punished for the events that happen inside that player's town.

This is about it,
Thank you for reading this.

Have fun,
- Deze
